Choosing a wig - face shape guide

Let the Face Shape Guide assist you in selecting a style that is perfect for you. Your facial shape is the starting point to choosing a style that flatters you.

To find out the shape of your face, measure it with a tape measure - and write them down:

- Measure your face across the top of your cheekbones.

- Measure across jawline from the widest point to the widest point.

- Measure across forehead to the widest point. Generally the widest point will be about halfway between your eyebrows and hairline.

- Measure from the tip of your hairline to the bottom of chin.

OVAL - many choices

Slightly narrower at the jawline than at the temples, with a gently rounded hairline.

Try: Most any hair shape works well. Short, medium and long lengths, plus styles swept away from face.

ROUND - add height without adding extra width

Full-looking face with round chin and hairline.

Try: Chin-length or longer styles, cuts with fullness and height at the crown, layered top, off-center parts.

SQUARE - avoid styles that add width at the jawline

Angular jawline, same width as forehead

Try: Styles that lengthen the face and add fullness on top work best. Avoid styles that add width at the jawline.

RECTANGULAR - avoid styles that add height on top

Long and slender, about the same width at forehead and just below cheekbones.

Try: Short to medium lengths, fullness at the sides, soft wispy bangs.

HEART - add volume to chin

Wider at the temples and hairline, narrowing to a small chin.

Try: Chin-length or longer styles, side parts, swept forward layers around the upper face, wispy bangs.

PEAR - add volume above jawline

Narrow forehead, round chin

Try: Frame the face with bangs and full layers on the sides and on top, with hair falling below the chin.

Carolina hurricanes vs. buffalo sabres

Carolina might not have started the playoffs with good rhythm but as the first round series got under way against Montreal they started playing really good. They still are and after that they knocked out the Devils in round two 4-1 in the series.

The Hurricanes have speed on all four of their lines and their defense is mobile and gets the puck up the ice quickly. Their power play, when it's on is one of the most dangerous in the NHL. However they need to avoid slow starts and start the games trailing because for them it’s very difficult to get back once they’re trailing earlier in the game.

Ron Brind'Amour is the heart and soul guy, he tends to come up big at key times. Eric Staal is the finisher who gets the puck in crunch time. Watch for Justin Williams as well. He was an impact player against Montreal.

Carolina has a very good regular season and playoffs so far; nothing would be better for them as winning the conference finals and get a shot to win the Stanley Cup as well.

Buffalo on the other hand left out the Flyers in the first round. A team that couldn’t deal with Buffalo’s speed and in the second round; Goalie Ryan Miller was a big difference against the Senators. But a gutsy overall effort that included three overtime wins was what brought Buffalo here.

The Sabres are very fast, quick and opportunistic on offense. Their defensive game was outstanding against a powerful Ottawa team and the Sabres are riding high from what was a major upset win last round.

But they have a few important players injured; Tim Connolly and Dmitri Kalinin are out but the Sabres have been talented enough to not let those injuries overcome their game and be where they are right now.

These Western conference finals will be all about the new era in the NHL. With two pioneer teams that are playing at the top of their game with very innovative types of playing this beautiful game.

Most major sportsbooks will have lines and props on these NHL Conference Finals. That will give a chance to all the sports betting fans to follow closely these games in order to make their wagers in the finals.

Dartmoor england s last great wilderness

Given National Park status in 1951, Dartmoor sits in the south of county Devon, southwest England, and covers an area of 365 square miles. Almost half the park is swampland, a haven for wildlife and those wishing to escape the rigours of city life.

Dartmoor Forest, owned by the Duchy of Cornwall since 1307, is a former royal hunting ground and makes up the vast majority of the region. The grass and heather moors are littered with hefty granite boulders scattered amongst the rolling hills. Wild ponies graze among the barren hills; despite running wild, all have human owners and are gathered annually each autumn.

Approximately 10% of the moor is woodland, much of it running along the tranquil river valleys. Stone circles and burial chambers are testament to Dartmoor's historic and enigmatic past. Indeed, Dartmoor is famous not only for its beautiful landscapes. It was within the little village of Grimspound that Sherlock Holmes found himself investigating the hound of the Baskervilles.

Dartmoor was one of Europe's biggest tin mining areas back in the 12th century. The stone built homes of the miners can still be found along many of the regions streams and rivers.

Abbot's Way runs across the southern part of the moor, racing across wild country and moorland bogs. The region is thought to be named after the abbots who are thought to have used this path when travelling between Buckland Abbey and Buckfast Abbey. Man's presence over the ages is evident in this barren land. Hut circles dating back to the Bronze and Iron ages remain today.

South of Abbots Way sits Harford Moor. The Middle Ages drew tin miners from far and wide seeking riches below the surface. Today visitors are drawn by the vast wilderness and wildlife. A medieval cross adorns Harford Church, one of many in the area which once served as signposts for those travelling across the moors.

Becky Falls Woodland Park first opened to the public in 1903. Some of the most enjoyable walks in England's southwest can be had here amongst the delightful waterfalls and huge granite.

To the west is Upper Plym Valley and a beautiful array of plants and wildlife. The tracks in these parts are somewhat easier to navigate than many others in the moors and provide much of interest along the way. The spectacular moorland scenery is interspersed with abandoned tin mines dating back over a century and various prehistoric relics including stone and hut circles.

Giving it your all in the fall

Fall is in the air! The dog days of Summer are long gone. The leaves are changing and falling, football is in full swing and pumpkins and gourds abound. Houses and tables are decorated with lovely fall colors. It is a season of beauty, energy and a time of change.

As I was walking around the block today I was struck by all the vibrant colors of the leaves and the crunching sound they made under my feet. It brought back childhood memories. I remembered as a kid running full blast into a giant pile of leaves and picking them up and trying to throw them. There is also a nip in the air during this time of year that energizes and awakens the senses and renews the spirit.

The change in seasons is a good time to reflect on what changes we want to make in our lives. So now that you have changed the clocks back in your home think about what other changes you may want to make as you strive to give it your “all” this Fall.

Here are some things to think about:

1. What can you do to show your vibrant self this Fall? What do you want right now? How can you be more true to yourself? How can you surround yourself with more beauty?

2. What routine would you like to fall back into? Any old habits or hobbies you should bring back into your life? What do you miss?

3. What is getting in your way? What do you keep tripping over or is making you fall? What out dated beliefs are you holding on to? What clutter can be cleared?

4. What are you ready to jump into this Fall? What changes have you been putting off? What steps can you take towards greater fulfillment? Harness your childhood energy to start something new.

5. What do you need to start saying "no" to? What is zapping your energy? What do you want to stop doing?

Start giving it your “all” this fall by reflecting and making changes in your life. Get yourself in a relax state. Look out your window or close your eyes. What color are the leaves? Are they red, yellow? How long does it take them to drop to the ground? Can you see them blowing around? Take a breath.

Next grab a pen and a piece of paper and start writing down your thoughts.

Do not edit yourself. By pondering the above questions you are taking the first step towards change and getting closer to something you want. Big or small strides it doesn’t matter. What is jumping out at you?

A greater awareness of what we want, what we miss and what we are tolerating is a start. Celebrate this new season by identifying changes you would like to see in your everyday life. Here’s to: getting energized, living a more fulfilling life and to new beginnings. Give it your “all” to get the most out of this Fall.

Go for it! You deserve it all.

Turning your golf game into a golf career

Many people enjoy golfing, and the reasons vary from person to person. For some, it's a relaxing game outside, a sport where there's no cheering or yelling and everything's carried out in hushed silence. For others, it's the challenge of perfection in the swing, getting that angle just right, the aim dead on and watching the ball fly through the air for yards, only to land near the tiny cup in the ground. Still others enjoy golf for the game itself, thrilling in lowering their scores and seeing how much better they can get.

Considering how many people golf today, it's surprising that many don't turn their hobby into a career. Just like any other passion such as painting, hockey, writing or cycling, a career in golf can end up being the job of a lifetime. Pros like Tiger Woods and Colin Montgomerie have propelled the popularity of golf into fame and fortune and the number of fans and would be tournament pros waiting for their lucky break is phenomenal. The problem is, only a select few people end up growing in ability to become the tournament pros we see on television, but there are still so many career opportunity spin offs from the sport itself that anyone who really wants to get into a golfing career can have their choice of jobs.

There are plenty of schools and colleges who will teach you the skills you need to land a golfing career, and a quick search on the internet will turn up all sorts of academies offering programs and courses to further your golf career. Some programs take only 16 months to complete, which really isn't much of a time investment to a great profession. Two solid years will earn you an associate degree in golf complex operations and management, if you're interested in the business aspect of running a complete golf course. There's emphasis on the golf pro and general golf management, both of which give you plenty of knowledge to get deeply involved in a golf career. Reputable golfing academies rely on the know how and experience of PGA professional golfers to instruct and coach the students.

The game of golf has plenty of career opportunities surrounding the sport. One golf career that may suit a lot of people and still has plenty of fame and popularity attached is the club pro. Club pros may not be the ones out there with the cameras surrounding them, but the pro shops of golf clubs are the heartbeat of the profession. Club pros are the ones who teach others how to play, repair equipment when it breaks and selling new equipment to people in search for the right club or putter. Generally speaking, most of the playing activity centers on the club pro and they're considered the experts who know what they're talking about.

Even other jobs that aren't within the playing activity of golfing are still valuable career choices. Greens keepers have become veritable experts on the golf course terrain and it's not just anyone who knows how to keep a course at its optimal playing standard. You could take that one step further and start your golf career as a course architect. New courses are always being opened to challenge players and an architect's job is to work with the available terrain while designing a new course overtop that will have players raving to bring in club memberships and sales.

There are careers that can be related to golfing, and many of these types of professions are interesting, important ones. Consider the physiotherapist who specializes in golfing injuries or the photographer who has to catch the perfect image for sporting magazines. Even the sports equipment used in golfing can end up being a career choice; someone has to craft those perfect clubs.

Every aspect of the golfing industry can lead to a job that has you enjoying something you've always shown an interest in. All you have to do to find your golf career is visit a complex and observe the many people it takes to keep the facility running smoothly and providing all the members and guests with the professional help they want and then find your niche.

Identity theft hits record levels

In a country that prides itself on innovation and a citizen’s right to privacy, why are we still living with the most antequated personal credit scoring system in the world? Our SSN (social security number) is the key to our financial existence. It allows the world to see the good, the bad and sometimes the downright ugly. We have no choice but to use this system to obtain credit, mortgages, insurance and even jobs. Having established the importance of this 9 digit number to us as individuals why are we still using a system that appears to have been designed for the sole benefit of thieves and robbers? We may just as well walk around with a BIG sign pinned to our backs telling any criminal with half a brain “Great Credit - Please Rob Me - All information required listed below.”

Anyone who has had the terrible misfortune to be affected by Identity Theft will know only too well how completely useless and ineffective our current system is. The pain can and normally will go on for many years. YOU ARE THE VICTIM OF A TERRIBLE CRIME! It would appear that everyone knows you are the victim of this crime, but the system has no answers for you. What seems like a very simple solution (remove these items from my credit report) becomes a MAJOR and very time consuming challenge. The demand letters just keep arriving by the sack load and of course your credit score, the thing we are all judged by, keeps going down. It finally gets to levels we never knew existed before this nightmare began.

Before I outline a possible solution, lets look at the problem. We are asked to give up our SSN every time we need credit. How do we know where that information is going. We complete these credit applications and hand over our life story to someone we have never met before - our name, address, date of birth, bank account and SSN. This person normally takes the application to someone else who either faxes it or puts the information into an online system. We have no idea where this information is going - IN GOD WE TRUST.

With Identity Theft (the so-called “White Collar Crime”) hitting record levels, it time for the government to start looking after the citizens it's paid to protect. Why are we still using a system most 3rd world countries would laugh at? If we must use a credit score system as a measure of our ability to pay debts, then at the very least put in place a system that protects us from criminals.

Why not make the SSN card a “Smart Card” with all our credit information held by a secure government agency. Before you all start crying “big brother” they already have it anyway. Just watch Law and Order or any CSI program and see how many times they trace someone from a credit card or cell phone. The smart card could have an account number, something like a credit card number. This number plus our zip code is the only personal information they would get. The dealers or stores would pay a small fee to the agency each time they requested a credit score. This would allow them to make a basic decision, yes or no. Should they wish to lend us the funds and we accepted their terms they could give us an account/reference number which we could enter into a government run secured web site allowing us to complete their application form. This would ensure that only fully licensed lending organizations would be receiving our most personal information.

They (our leaders) get the chance to put some real meaning into the words “Serve and Protect” and we get to sleep at night without the fear of being left pennyless, seems fair to me.
